James Harden to the Houston Rockets in Four Team Deal

On Wednesday the NBA witnessed one of the most momentous trades recorded in the past couple of years. Four teams were involved in this massive trade. The outcome being: James Harden and Victor Oladipo to the Brooklyn Nets, Dante Exum and Rodions Kurucs to the Houston Rockets. Finally, Jarret Allen and Tauren Prince were sent off to the Cleveland Cavaliers. With this, there was also a great deal of draft picks thrown around to all the teams.

So how will these changes affect the current state of the league and the season? Let’s start with the Nets. Last off-season the Nets acquired two superstars in Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. With these two on the roster they were already predicted as the frontrunners in the Eastern Conference. Now with the addition of another all-star in James Harden, they will most likely be title contenders and take the number one seed in the conference.

The other significant outcome from this trade I feel needs to be covered are the losses of the Rockets. Just last season they claimed the fourth seed in the Western conference and were full of talent with names such as Eric Gordon and Russel Westbrook. But now with the loss of their star player in James Harden and Westbrook only a shell of his former self it’s doubtful they’ll be attempting any playoff runs in the near future.

Finally, for the Cavaliers and Pacers, two teams with already low expectations, I don’t think we’ll be seeing any major changes in their performances this season.
