At Orcutt Academy High School, we have our very own boys and girls cross country teams. With Frank Mata coaching the girls team and Roger Fabing coaching the boys team, boys and girls cross country have put immense amounts of work and effort into this year’s season, and continue to do so as it slowly comes to an end.

Just recently, girls varsity cross country competed at Mt Sac Invitation and finished 7th out of 26 teams. Mt Sac is ranked the second toughest cross country course in the country. The Girls are ranked 6th in CIF and have a very good chance at running state. On October 30th, the teams competed in an intense competition against fourteen schools in the Santa Barbara County XC Meet.

Coach Mata believes, “With virtually an all new team the season is turning out better than expected.” Win or loss the cross country teams have pulled through and have done great things.

Overall, as the season begins to end, the boys and girls cross country teams finish off strong, making this year count. With Orcutt Academy’s athletes and coaches, one can expect the Spartan cross country teams to continue to do great things in years to come.
