A veteran substitute teacher here at Orcutt Academy, Beth Chamberlain has influenced many students at OA, regardless of the fact she isn’t a full time teacher. She doesn’t need to be full time to be loved by Orcutt’s student body and staff.

Born and raised in southern California, Mrs. Chamberlain has always been familiar with this area and did not need to adjust  much when moving to Santa Maria. After high school, she took a few years off of school and later decided to attend Brigham Young University in Utah. After changing her major multiple times she finally decided with geography. “Geography determines lifestyle” explained Chamberlain on why she chose to pursue higher education in the study of geography. Chamberlain believes where you live influences what you wear, what you eat, and how you live.

After college she got married and worked in the floral business for a little while. She started being a substitute teacher to be able to spend time with her mom and her family but still have a dependable job. When asked what subject she would teach if she was a full-time teacher she quickly responded with “Definitely not math!”. If anything she would like to teach history .

Overall, Orcutt Academy is definitely a better place with her around and we thank you Mrs. Chamberlain for everything you’ve done for OA!
