The traditions of Christmas vary between all different families, most of which consist of staying at home, drinking hot chocolate, and opening presents, to get into the Christmas spirit. The majority of people who practice these traditions have carried them down throughout countless generations. None of this applies to me or my family, however, as we like to keep Christmas more lowkey.
My father and I essentially ditch my family’s tradition of having a dinner with extended family in a large setting, and now elect to celebrate just the two of us. Doing Christmas this way keeps it intimate and special. Because at the end of the day, Christmas is about giving and spending time with your loved one, and that’s what my father and I still do.
