Less than 24 hours before playing the Oakland Raiders on December 2nd, Kansas City Chief’s star running back Kareem Hunt was sent home early from the practice facility and ultimately cut from the team. TMZ Sports released a from a February altercation Hunt was involved, the AFC West champions decided to cut the running back with no questions asked.

Kareem Hunt, the NFL’s leading rusher (at the time), was let go by the Kansas City Chiefs, who now stand at 11-3. Per the TMZ Sports video, Hunt was held back by a few men who stepped in to prevent any altercations in a Cleveland hotel. However, Hunt pushed the group of men out of the way, knocking one guy down in the process, and proceeded to kick the woman while she was on the ground.

The NFL made multiple attempts to obtain the video of Hunt, but the hotel said corporate policy only allowed footage to be given to law enforcement. The NFL then contacted Cleveland police, but the department said Saturday it did not pursue the video because it was not a felony-level case. Kareem then replied “No, they didn’t” when asked if the NFL spoke directly to him.

According to Fox News, Hunt said, “I regret the entire thing… I’m going to take this time to better myself.” Hunt also added that this incident was an act of anger and “it could be an issue.” Hunt said he would get treatment to ensure this wouldn’t happen again.

Despite the NFL gaining a copy of the video, the Kansas City Chiefs released Kareem Hunt due to his role in this assault incident back in February.
