On October 26th, our Spartan football team took on Mission Prep High School. The players held through for the first half of the game, keeping the score within a few points of Mission Prep and taking the lead throughout. The game ended with a final score of 28 Orcutt, and 42 Mission Prep.

The top players of the game were Max Daniels, Alex Sutton, and Donovan Miller. Daniels made 76 passing yards, Alex Sutton completed 114 rushing yards, and Miller completed 42 receiving yards.

The first quarter ended with Mission Prep in the lead with a score of 7 to 14, with Alex Sutton making a touchdown. In the second quarter Spartans took the lead. Max Daniels and David Conable each made a touchdown, finishing the quarter with a score of 21-20, Spartans in the lead.

After entertaining performances from our band, cheerleaders, and dance team the Spartans came back ready to conquer, however, this was not the case with Mission Prep. In the third quarter, Donovan Miller made another touchdown for the Spartans leaving the score at 28-27.

Things took a turn for the worst in the final quarter of the game with Mission Prep gaining 15 points and taking a strong lead. This brought the game to an end with Mission Prep taking the win with a final score of 28-42.

Though the loss was a disappointment for our football players, they are excited to play Mission Prep again in CIF and take the win this time. Quarterback and captain Max Daniels remarks, “We went into the game knowing it was the most important game of the season, and I feel like we played well and gave a lot of effort despite losing. We will be working really hard to win the next time we see them.”

Good job at the game Spartans, and good luck in CIF.
