Orcutt Academy’s cheerleading team recently competed in their last competition of the season. The team traveled to Santa Clarita on March 10th to show off their skills at the World Class Cheerleading Championships.
The team put on an amazing show despite the difficult week they endured prior to the competition. Due to injury of one of the athletes, the team had to rearrange the routine to fill holes and fix stunts the week before the team competed. Our team worked long and hard to make sure everything was on time and looked easy. The week before, the team could be found practicing after school or in KT’s All-Star Gymnastics at night.
The Orcutt Academy cheerleading team jumped, flipped, and tossed with precision and impressed the judges earning second place at the end of the competition. The team’s coaches, Megan Moore and Katey Eckenrode, were extremely proud of the girls and boys saying the team had done “the best they ever had this season.” The competition was a CIF sanctioned event which makes the team eligible to receive their CIF patches. After competing for the last time this season, the team had a great time together cheering on other teams and dancing to the music blasting through the speakers. The team is very proud of the performance they put on and have proven that hard work pays off. They can always put on an amazing performance even under the stress and pressure of losing a teammate.
Orcutt Academy is sad to see our 2017-2018 cheer season come to an end but cannot wait to see what the team has in store for us next year. OA is proud of our team for the great season they had and all the spirit they brought to our school. Good job cheer!
