Things are getting intense for the Orcutt Academy Robotics Team as they enter the second week of their six week build season. I sat down with a team member to learn more about what’s coming up.
Jordyn English, a long-term member of the club, spoke to me of the great progress the team has already made in the early stages of their build season. Jordyn also spilled about the plans to break the mechanical team up into small groups, with each group’s job being to prototype different designs, in the hopes that the team will be able to pick a final design by the end of the week.
Not only do team members need to work independently, but communication and teamwork is pertinent during this time of year if things are going to get done! Recently, the mechanical team and electrical team have had quite a bit of communication while ensuring that any end designs have enough space in their basic frame for any attachments the team has designed.
Within these next few build weeks, the team plans to have their designs finalized and begin fabricating the parts that will go on their final competition robot.
This year is only the second year that the robotics team has gone the extra mile and built two robots simultaneously, accepting all of the responsibilities that come with that.
The team also plans on competing in not one, but two regional competitions this year. One is taking place in Long Beach and the other in Ventura. Both competitions are set to take place in March, leaving everyone excited for what the future of this season holds for our Orcutt Academy Robotics Team!
