OA girls tennis team end of season update

The Orcutt Academy girls tennis team, coached by Mr. Art Lopez, is one of the most successful sports this year. The team made it to CIF, and showed off their hard work through exemplary team statistics. Team captains and varsity players Kayla Pablo and Isabelle Lopez hold the highest grossing singles positions on the team and in stats.

Kayla Pablo (pictured left) is the team’s most successful singles player, with 15 wins and 5 losses this season. Isabelle Lopez (pictured right) comes in second at 5 wins and 3 losses. The team has done well in both their singles and doubles games against competing schools. Most recently, the team played a tough game against Mission Prep High School from San Luis Obispo.

The Mission Prep match was on October 15th at the Allan Hancock College tennis courts. The teams battled out nine games, including singles and doubles, ending in an unfortunate six to three loss. The previous game against Coast Union High School from Cambria was much more successful. The girls won the October 10th match by a landslide, eight to one.

The team hopes to place well in the upcoming CIF championship, set to take place at San Luis Obispo High School. OA’s winning team is ranked fourth place in the league but hopes to place even higher in the CIF tournament.
