Orcutt Academy’s Class of 2020 has accomplished a lot in their junior year. Now, they are looking to carry that momentum into making a great senior year. We caught up with class of 2020 President Ari Cross to get the details.

Coming into this year, Cross says they had mostly focused on class spirit and making sophomore year fun, but junior year was meant to be a fundraising year. To this end, Cross reports that the class was highly successful, bringing in thousands of dollars from Winter Formal, as well as bringing in close to $600 dollars from a silent auction the class put on at the school talent show.

Cross reports that the class’ finances are in a good spot. Mr. Shaw, the class of 2020 faculty advisor, recently met with this year’s senior class and found out that they are on track to have the money to put on events on par with this year’s graduating senior class.

With this news, Cross says that the class’ plans are to shift once again away from fundraising. With the class in a good financial position, Cross explains that the plan going forward will be to try to give the incoming senior class the best last year they can have.

The last large class fundraiser will be the back to school dance next year, which the class of 2020 hosting it. Cross hopes that they will earn a couple thousand dollars from this dance and then completely shift towards using the money to making senior year great.

Moving into next year, the Class of 2020’s officer team has changed shape. After elections on Friday May 31, current Vice President Isabel Guerrero will become President of the Class for Senior Year with current President Ari Cross taking the Vice President role. Also, current Secretary Hayley Parker will be leaving the officer team to become Vice President of ASB with Caden McCune filling her role for next year. Olivia Bailey will keep her position as Class Treasurer.

With senior year coming up fast, Cross says that she hopes that everyone in the Class of 2020 will make an effort to get involved in their senior year, whether that be in attending school sporting events, going to dances, attending plays, or just keeping up to date with what the Class of 2020 is doing.

The Class of 2020 is looking to have a blast this upcoming fall. It seems to be that they have a clear vision as to what needs to be done in order to make this happen.
