Every year, college basketball fans flock to their televisions to watch the famous 68 team tournament known as March Madness. During this time, March Madness becomes an important aspect of many people’s lives. They watch their teams, make brackets, and compete with their friends along the way- not only around the country, but also here at OAHS.

There’s no question that March Madness is a big event in sports entertainment. The tournament features 68 different college basketball teams working their way down the single-elimination bracket of the tournament. March Madness originally started in 1939, with only 8 teams. The number of teams, along with the event’s popularity, has gradually increased over the years up until it has reached where it is today.

Hayden Umphenour, an active viewer on March Madness, shares her opinion on who will win the tournament. “Honestly, I think Texas Tech will win the Tournament this year because of their stats.”

March Madness is certainly a very important aspect of many people’s lives, not only here at Orcutt Academy, but throughout the world as well. If you’re interested in March Madness, tune in on April 8th at 6:20 pm to watch the final match between Texas Tech and Virginia.
