Playing a team sport like soccer requires you to build a relationship with your teammates. During the high school soccer season many coaches do team bonding activities in order for the team to get comfortable with each other. Because players are spending such a large amount of time on and off the field together, it is important that they get along and build a good relationship. If the team can have a good and close relationship, it will help them on the field. Having a close relationship allows them to work better together and will improve their overall performance as a team. It is an important part of the sport and coaches recognize this, which is why they do team bonding.

There are different types of team bonding activities, whether it be a team dinner or game night. All are effective; it just depends on what works for the team. My favorite is team dinners because everyone gets together and talks at the table. By doing this everyone gets the chance to talk and listen to each other, and it always seems to work when it comes to bonding as a team. Overall team bonding is a very good idea for all team sports and allows players to be comfortable with other players.
