Orcutt Academy is a school well-known for its smart spartans. To commemorate the hard work many students put into school and getting the grades they get, the school puts on an award rally to celebrate those with a G.P.A of 3.5 or higher.

The award ceremonies were split this past Friday; the first ceremony was for juniors and seniors and the second one was for freshmen and sophomores. Parents were notified about their child receiving an award and were able to attend.

At the rally three different awards are presented to those who received them. The first is the merit award that is given to those with a G.P.A of of 3.5 to 3.79, and The Honor Merit award is given to students with a GPA ranging from 3.8 to 3.99. The last award, the Principal’s List award, is given to students with a GPA of 4.0 and above for 1 or more semesters. During the first award ceremony certain students were awarded with special awards regarding ACT, SAT, and AP scores and were able to be recognized for their achievements. In addition, seniors Charlie Parkinson and Kaden Bennett received special awards for their own academic achievement.  Charlie Parkinson received an award for his perfect ACT score, and Kaden Bennett received one for The Honors Merit Society.

At the rally a total of eighty-five freshman, ninety-six sophomores, seventy juniors, and one hundred and seventeen seniors were honored with the awards. That’s a total of 368 students at Orcutt Academy being awarded.

All students who won an award received a free Spartan t-shirt as well as a free Jamba Juice smoothie at lunch following both award rallies. At the rally there were multiple teachers presenting awards to students, including both Mr. Masons, Mr. Ostini, and Mr. Verch.

The annual academic achievements rally was a success with many students and parents attending the ceremony. The Spartan Oracle congratulates the students on their hard work and wishes the best for them.
