Bohemian Rhapsody

Bohemian Rhapsody, a new movie about the band Queen, will definitely “rock you.” The movie came out last Friday, November 2nd, and mainly focuses on the lead singer of the band, Freddie Mercury.

The movie is centered around the life of the band, and how they came up with many of their best hits such as “We Will Rock You,” “We Are the Champions,” “Somebody to Love,” “Under Pressure,” “Bohemian Rhapsody,” and many others. Before seeing the movie, I assumed that it would be more focused on the (quite graphic) personal life of Freddie Mercury. However, the movie focused more on the struggles he faced while in the rock-and-roll industry.

As someone who isn’t much of a fan of documentary or musical type films, this movie really surprised me. It was so much better than I had anticipated. I was expecting for the film to bore me, but it was very entertaining and taught me more about Queen, and made me realize how many songs I know are from Queen.

Much like the song after which it is named, Bohemian Rhapsody is very lengthy, clocking at 2 hours and 15 minutes. However, the movie still manages to capture the viewer’s attention throughout the entirety of the film. The movie contained the perfect amount of drama and entertainment to captivate the audience. A recurring setting of the movie is a stage, where the cast members “perform” many songs.

There are many stellar performances incorporated into the film, and it really gives a sense of what a Queen concert might have been like. The casting was spot on, because the actors were able to portray the characters wonderfully. They both looked, and acted, just like the real people. Rami Malek plays Freddy Mercury, and does an excellent job of portraying him. The other band members are played by Ben Hardy, Mike Meyers, and Joseph Mazzello.

I highly recommend that you watch Bohemian Rhapsody – you will not be dissapointed.
