Orcutt Academy boys volleyball got the ball rolling for their season last week and played games against both Templeton and San Luis Obispo this week.

Unfortunately, the team lost both of the games, losing to Templeton with a final score of 0-3 sets, and to San Luis Obispo by 1-3 sets. The Templeton game counted toward the team’s status in the Los Padres League game while the game against SLO was a scrimmage and did not count for league standings. In this current season, the team has played five games so far, winning two and losing three.

Although the team lost, their hard work shined through and many of the athletes exhibited their talent. Senior Hamilton Wall says Dylan Gomez, Dane Weeks, and Marc Pyle were crucial in both the offensive and defensive plays of the games. Wall also highlighted James Tilley for his phenomenal digs throughout the game and Lorenzo Papworth for his great sets.

The next challenge the team will face is a game this Saturday against Dunn school in Santa Ynez. From all of us at the Spartan Oracle, good luck on your upcoming game and season!
