Spring sports took off this week at Orcutt Academy, and it was a week worthy of forgetting.

Events for the swim team and the boy’s tennis team were cancelled. The swim meet was shut down midway because of pH issues in the pool, while the Tennis matches didn’t even start because of unfit weather before the game.

Softball had a game at SLO which ended in a loss of 5-18. Cielo Ruvalcaba was a star this game going 1 for 2, and hitting a homerun. The team’s next game will be Tuesday, 3:30 at Pioneer Valley.

Baseball also lost this week at the hands of Templeton, ending score 1-7. Robert Jimenez was hit in for a run by Nick Guerrero. Dylan Fulton started the game pitching and was relieved by Tyler Zafiris.

Track and field competed at Santa Maria on Wednesday. Boys frosh-soph finished 3rd, girls frosh-soph finished 1st, boy’s varsity finished 4th, and girls varsity finished 4th. Max Daniels placed first in long jump, David Conable placed first in 400 meter, Avi Patel was first in the 110 hurdles, and Kevin Lopez placed first in shot put. In addition, Jaden Davis was second in the 100 meter, and Mackenzie Webb placed second in both the 1 mile and 2 mile.

Boys volleyball won their first game in 4 sets against St. Joe´s. Dylan Gomez and Dane Weeks were the star hitters in this game. Their next game is 5:00 today at Mission Prep.

Track seems off to a great start with many of our students placing high in their events.
