On Wednesday 25th, our girls basketball team took on the Santa Maria Saints. Both games were fun to watch and both teams played hard as true Spartans would do.

First up was the Junior Varsity team. Our girls did great in the first half having good hustle and at half time they were leading 12-8. In the second half though the Saints pulled through winning the JV game 25-23. According to Ms. Davis (our athletic director) she says our girls our looking much better than last year.

Next was the Varsity game. In my opinion, this game went at a quicker pace than the Junior Varsity game. The first half was slower than the second half with our girls ending the first half 16-15 with the Saints in the lead. Then in the second half the girls took it to the next level taking the lead and winning 46-44.

At the end of the day, our lady Spartans showed Santa Maria that we are a force to be reckoned with. I’ll give a shout out to Malia Brown for  making some great shots for the Junior Varsity game and to the captains of the Varsity game for winning the game. The next basketball game is Friday 26th at Templeton. Good luck Spartans; show those Eagles who rule.
