SAGA, or the Sexuality And Gender Alliance, is currently discussing their plans for Multicultural Day which is happening in a few weeks. Mr. Culbara says that the club will likely do something similar to what they have done in the past.
Another few things that have been talked about in SAGA are Trans Day of Silence and Harvey Milk Day. It has been said that SAGA this year will not participate Trans Day of Silence due to scheduling complications. National Trans Day of Silence will take place over Spring Break this year and, should we try to schedule a day to honor and celebrate it before or after, many things would interfere with school scheduling. Things such as Multicultural day, AP testing and finals are interfering with the planning and scheduling of the day and so the club has cancelled the day of awareness.
As for Harvey Milk Day, SAGA is planning a party in honor of the late Californian politician who was open about his sexuality and a supporter of the community in a time where being gay was more than just a societal taboo.
If you want to go in personally and be involved in SAGA and the planning for these events, SAGA has meetings on Fridays at lunch.
