Orcutt Academy’s Varsity Girl’s soccer team was a force to be reckoned with this season. According to Captain Anika Graack, their unity and genuine friendships really made the whole experience for these girls.
The season was considered an overall success. Anika figures that this year’s team was one of the strongest that our school has had in years, alluding to the fact that the team will most likely only be seeing improvements from here on out.
The ladies gave their all to this team and our school by putting in hours of hard work. This season’s timing was a bit of an inconvenience to the girls, due to the bouts of rain that would cause most of the games to be rescheduled. This only further proves the team’s dedication to Orcutt Academy, because the rescheduling of games often led to the girls being forced to play numerous games within one week. One can only imagine the exhaustion these dedicated girls felt. Despite this exhaustion, the girls managed to beat Templeton and Santa Maria. They also tied Atascadero and Morro Bay. In total, they won five games, lost twelve, and tied three.
As far as I can tell, team pride runs deep in this bunch, and rightfully so. It is a rare occurrence to not only join a group of people and successfully meet your end goals, but to simultaneously enjoying each other’s company, as well.
