The football team worked long and hard this year to give the best they could. With good sportsmanship, a great coach (Doug May) and hard work they were able to make it to CIF! I was able to sit down and talk with the two football captains for this year and find out their thoughts on this year.
I first talked to senior Justin Zepeda, to find out his thoughts. He said that going to CIF was definitely their biggest accomplishment as a team. He also mentioned how his coaches have helped him. ¨All my coaches have helped me a lot, like helping me get through practices.¨ I then was curious to find out how their relationship as a team was this year. ¨It’s a really close relationship. We are all friends and work together well, and we all stand up for each other.¨
Next I sat down with junior Alex Andrade, another captain. When I asked what he thought was the biggest accomplishment of the year, he responded saying, ¨Having my best season personally, and also for the team.¨ We then discussed how the team worked that year. ¨I really think we work well together.¨ He says. He mentioned that though there were definitely issues with some of the guys now and then, that they tried their best to work it out and continue on. ¨I love my team,¨ he says. ¨We work hard and I hope next season will be even better.¨ He says he would like to thank his coach for having him work hard this season and finishing out the year well.
Congratulations to all the OAHS football team members and coaches this year for making it all the way to CIF and ending the season well! We can’t wait to see how far they will all go in the continuing years to come!
